Ferdinand Mbonihankuye

Ferdinand Mbonihankuye is a Burundian data, science, and environmental investigative journalist. He specialises in reporting on environmental crime, water management, agroecology, climate change, health, and agroforestry. Ferdinand is a co-founder of Ibihe and a correspondent for SciDev.Net, and he has contributed to platforms such as TRT AfrikaAfrican Liberty, and Yaga Burundi. He is a fellow of several prestigious programmes, including the Rainforest Journalism Fund by the Pulitzer Center, the Aga Khan University, and the International Women’s Media Foundation. Ferdinand is also a member of the French-speaking Africa Science Journalists Network (RJSAF) and operates with the Association for Climate & Environmental Research (ACER). He joined theniles.org contributor team in 2024, committed to shedding light on critical environmental challenges in the Great Lakes region.
